Welcome to the Wiles Hill School Website.

We dedicate this Website to showing and telling the story, including the recent reincarnation, of "The Little School With The Big Heart".

The sun set on Wiles Hill School in 1999 when the Monongalia County Board of Education voted to consolidate Wiles Hill with North Elementary School

The silver lining in that dark cloud is that the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners of Morgantown (BOPARC) bought the school and playgrounds in late 1999 and made the school the center piece of the newly created Wiles Hill Park.  More recently, Wiles Hill School was named the new BOPARC Senior-Community Center.

Proposed Addition: ADA Access Entrance
The image to the left, along with the two images below, depicts a new ADA access entrance, lobby, restrooms and kitchen for Wiles Hill School.  Given the outcome of value engineering on the original bid package, BOPARC expects to re-bid  Scheme D by mid to late April.  We will keep you posted. With Financial Help from folk like yourself, we expect to build this new addition in the near future.  In the mean time, BOPARC and volunteers from the Wiles Hill community will move forward with renovation of the existing building, including handicap access, with money we have in hand.

Proposed Addition: Lobby Scheme
In fact, we are well underway with renovations to the old school building that includes Handicap Access. You can view our renovation plans in the Photo Gallery under "Concept Improvement Plan", and in the other photo galleries you can follow the progress of our Renovation projects.  We expect to open our doors to seniors and the larger community in March 2007.  Our photo galleries will be updated weekly.

Proposed Addition: Kitchen Scheme
Thanks to a generous allocation to BOPARC in Morgantown's general fund budget for 2006-2007, we will be able to include the new kitchen (left) in our renovation projects for this year.
